Valley of the Kings

Today begins very early. We will have a special opportunity to have a private visit to The Valley of The Kings. Because of the special permission we have obtained for our groups, we will enter the Valley before they open to the public.

We will take a motor boat across the Nile to the West Bank. Here we board a waiting bus that will take us to The Valley of the Kings.

This site is a royal cemetery for over 500 years with over 62 Pharaohs and other nobles buried here. Once in the Valley, our Egyptologist will give us a brief presentation about the valley and point out specific tombs that may be of interest to you to visit. With your admission to the Valley you are able to visit 3 tombs of your choice and the most famous tomb of them all: The Tomb of King Tutankhamun. After our visit to the Valley of the Kings we will make a short stop at a local alabaster shop. Here we will get a short demonstration on how the artisans craft their designs out of the alabaster stone. Afterwards you will be greeted inside for some refreshments and you will have the opportunity to purchase several items for your home collection.

After the alabaster shop we will stop off at the Next we will stop off at the Ramesseum and see the large bust of Ramesses II, we have mentioned this statue several times as we have driven past it. Now you will have ample time to take photos up close and explore the surrounding grounds.

Afterwards we head back to the East Bank for lunch on our cruise ship. The rest of the afternoon is free time, as our ship will depart Luxor and head south to the City of Edfu.
