Valley of The Kings

The Valley of the Kings is a really special place in Egypt. It’s located on the west bank of the Nile river, near the ancient city of Thebes. This valley is known for being the final resting place for many of the pharaohs, who were the ancient Egyptian kings.
The pharaohs wanted to be buried in a safe place, where no one would be able to steal their treasures or damage their tombs. That’s why they chose the Valley of the Kings as their burial site.
The Valley of the Kings is home to many tombs, but one of the most famous tombs is the tomb of King Tutankhamun, also known as King Tut. King Tut was only a young boy when he became king, and he ruled Egypt for only a short time before he died. Despite his short reign, his tomb is one of the most famous because it was discovered nearly intact, with many treasures still inside.
When King Tut was buried, his tomb was filled with all sorts of things he would need in the afterlife, such as food, clothing, and jewelry. It was also decorated with beautiful paintings and carvings.

The tomb was discovered in 1922 by archaeologist Howard Carter. He had been searching for King Tut’s tomb for many years, and when he finally found it, he was amazed by all the treasures inside.
Today, people can visit the tomb of King Tut in the Valley of the Kings and see many of the treasures that were discovered inside, such as his golden mask and other jewelry. It’s a really interesting place to learn more about ancient Egyptian history and culture.
The Valley of the kings is an important place to visit to learn more about the ancient Egyptian civilization, they were buried with treasures and artifacts that gives us a glimpse of their daily life and beliefs. And the tomb of King Tut is one of the most famous and well-preserved tomb that visitors could see and learn from.

Recipe of the Month
mulukhiyah
A popular Egyptian dish made from jute leaves

Ingredients
- 1 bunch of fresh jute leaves
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 cup of chicken or beef broth
- 1 cup of tomato puree
- 1 tsp of ground coriander
- 1 tsp of ground cumin
- 1 tsp of ground paprika
- 1 tsp of salt
- 1/2 tsp of black pepper
- 3 tbsp of olive oil
- Rice, for serving
- Lemon wedges, for serving
INSTRUCTIONS
- Wash the jute leaves thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris. Cut the leaves into thin ribbons and set aside.
- In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic and cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the broth, tomato puree, coriander, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper to the saucepan and stir to combine.
- Increase the heat to high and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and add the jute leaves to the saucepan. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the jute leaves have softened and the flavors have melded together.
- Serve the mulukhiyah hot over a bed of rice and garnish with lemon wedges.
