Day 12

Details

Today our day starts as we leave the hotel before noon. We will eat Lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch we will visit an oil making shop where we will learn the ancient process of extracting oils from plants and flowers. We will have time for you to browse through their collection and make a few purchases if you wish. After the oil shop we will take a short drive to the Giza Plateau. We have been seeing the massive Pyramids from a distance, now we will get up close and personal. Our first stop will be at one of the best locations for a panoramic view and photo of the Plateau. We will then get up close and personal with the Great Sphinx. Thanks to special permission from the Minister of Antiquities our group will get private access inside the Sphinx enclosure. Our Egyptologist will guide us around the Sphinx discussing its history. Afterwards you will have ample time to take photos.

Next we will drive up a short distance to the steps of the Great Pyramid. Here we will be guided around the area by our Egyptologist where they will explain the history of the site, the different structures that we will come across, and answer any additional questions you may have. As the sun starts to set and the Plateau closes to the rest of its guests, we will stay behind and wait for the area to clear out. We will then have a private and exclusive access inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Here you will have the opportunity to go into two additional chambers, not seen by the general public, The Queens Chamber, and the Subterranean Chamber.

After our private entrance to The Great Pyramid of Khufu we will have some additional free time to take additional photos on the outside of the pyramid. From there we will board our bus and head back to our hotel for dinner.
