Philae Temple | Aswan
The Philae Temple is an ancient temple located in the city of Aswan, Egypt. It is a very special temple because it was built on an island in the Nile River! It is said to be one of the most beautiful temples in all of Egypt.
History
The history of the Philae Temple goes back a very long time, all the way to the 4th century BC! That means it is over 2,000 years old! It was built to honor the goddess Isis, who was an important goddess in ancient Egypt. Over the centuries, the temple was modified and improved by different rulers and pharaohs, but it always remained an important religious site.

Destruction Avoided
One of the most interesting things about the Philae Temple is that it was almost completely submerged when the Aswan High Dam was built in the 1960s. The dam created a large reservoir, which threatened to flood the temple forever. But thanks to a big project led by UNESCO, the temple was saved! The whole temple was carefully dismantled and moved to a nearby island, where it was rebuilt piece by piece.

Today, the Philae Temple is a popular tourist destination, and people from all over the world come to see it. There are many interesting things to see at the temple, like the Temple of Isis, which is the main temple. You can also see the Kiosk of Trajan, which is a very tall and impressive building. There are many beautiful carvings and paintings on the walls, which show scenes from ancient Egyptian life.
Getting There
To get to the Philae Temple, you would need to travel to Aswan. Aswan is a city in southern Egypt, and it is easy to get to by train or bus. Once you are in Aswan, you can take a boat ride to the island where the temple is located. The boat ride is very beautiful, and you can see many other temples and monuments along the way.
In conclusion, the Philae Temple is a very special and important temple in Egypt. It has a long and interesting history, and it is a beautiful example of ancient Egyptian architecture and art. If you ever get the chance to visit Egypt, be sure to put the Philae Temple on your list of places to see!

Recipe of the Month
Fesikh
Fesikh is a traditional Egyptian dish that is commonly eaten during the spring holiday festival of Sham el-Nessim It is made from fermented and salted grey mullet, which gives it a distinct flavor and texture.

Ingredients:
- 2 medium-sized grey mullet (about 1 pound)
- 1/2 cup salt
- Water
Instructions:
- Start by cleaning the fish. Remove the scales, gills, and internal organs. Rinse the fish well with cold water.
- Make a long slit along the length of each fish, from head to tail. Open up the fish and remove the spine and bones, leaving only the flesh intact.
- Rub each fish generously with salt, making sure to coat the inside and outside of the fish.
- Place the fish in a large glass or ceramic dish and cover with a cloth. Leave the dish in a cool, dry place for 3-4 days to allow the fish to ferment and develop its flavor.
- After 3-4 days, rinse the fish well with cold water to remove any excess salt.
- Soak the fish in cold water for at least 6 hours, changing the water every hour. This will help to remove any remaining salt and soften the fish.
- Once the fish is soaked, remove it from the water and pat it dry with a clean towel.
- Cut the fish into small pieces and serve with sliced onions, fresh bread, and lemon wedges.
Note: Fesikh can be an acquired taste due to its strong flavor and odor. It is important to handle the fish carefully and to store it properly to avoid any health risks. If you’re unsure about making Fesikh at home, it is best to purchase it from a reputable source.
