Saqqara
Details
After breakfast we will drive south to the City of Saqqara, considered the birth place of architecture. In this vast necropolis you will have the opportunity to see several different tombs. A site that must be seen while in Egypt is the Serapeum of Saqqara, this subterranean burial site is an awe inspiring experience. Your Egyptologist will guide you through this underworld and show you some of the mysteries that have still not been answered today. After our visit at the Serapeum we will travel a short distance to see the Step Pyramid and the surrounding courtyard. You will have free time to explore the grounds and take additional photos in this photogenic area.
We will have lunch at a nearby restaurant. Afterwards we will drive back to our hotel where you will have the rest of the day to yourself. Dinner options will be discussed during the day.
