Flight to Luxor- Visit to Karnak and Luxor Temples

We will leave the hotel in the morning to catch our short flight to Luxor. Luxor is one of the many capitals of ancient Egypt, also known as Thebes. Once we land and board our bus we will go to Karnak Temple where we will be guided by our Egyptologist. Karnak is the largest temple complex in the world. The tour starts in the information center where you will see a scale model of this massive temple. From there you will walk through the Avenue of Sphinxes, enter through the Pylon of the West Gate, meander through the columns, stop by the Temple of Khonsu, learn about the Sacred Lake, see the iconic statue of Ptah, and have some free time exploring the open air museum.

After the tour of Karnak Temple we will board our luxury vessel, our home for the next 7 days, enjoy lunch and have free time for the rest of the day.

In the early evening we will depart the cruise ship and travel a short distance to the Temple of Luxor, the city’s namesake. We will arrive at the Temple before the sun sets. Our Egyptologist guide will walk us through the grounds. Before we enter the Temple we will see the Avenue of Sphinxes. We will then stop at the entrance with the iconic obelisk. Our guide will talk about the history of the gate and some of the many special features. Luxor Temple has several open courts and massive columns that we will walk through and our guide will pause to point out specific areas of interest.   

We will end the evening with dinner back on the ship. The rest of the evening is on your own.
